Pearson

I have been unable to locate anyone else doing research on the Pearson family in the Blackpool area at this early time.  There were Pearsons in the Blackpool area as early as 1650 when christening records start.

The earliest ancestor that I can find for this line is James Pearson, bc 1709-17.  He married Dorathy Hull on 1 FEB 1742, St. Chad’s, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England.  At the time of their marriage they were both from Stayning.  See my discussion below for possible parents on James.  They had: Nickolas, c 14 AUG 1743, St. Chad’s, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England; Jennet c 25 NOV 1744, St. Chad’s, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England; Thomas, c11 JUN 1749, St. Chad’s, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England; and James c 7 NOV 1756, St. Chad’s, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England.  See my Hull page for information on Dorathy’s family.

Thomas Pearson was christened 11 JUN 1749, St. Chad’s, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England.  He married first Cicily Swarbrick (bc 1749; d 1781).  He married second Ann Hall (bc 1760).  Thomas and Ann had: Thomas, c 20 JAN 1782, All Hallows, Bispham, Lancashire, England; and Mary, bc 1786; d DEC 1862.  See my Hall page for information on Ann’s family.

Mary Pearson was born circa bc 1786 and  d DEC 1862.  She married John Craven on 4 FEB 1806, All Hallows, Bispham, Lancashire, England.  See my Craven page for their descendants.

Possible Parents for James Pearson, bc 1709-17.   I have found two possible families that James could belong to:

The first family used Bispham to have their children christened.  This was Thomas of Little Layton.  The second family was William of Poulton, who used Poulton le Fylde to have their children christened.   James was married in Poulton le Fylde and his children were christened there.   However, the name Thomas was prevalent in this line and either family could be correct.

Another Pearson family, but not known if related.

Robert Pearson was bc 1645.  His wife is unknown.  He possibly had: Katherine, c 16 FEB 1666, All Hallows, Bispham, Lancashire, England; Thomas, c 13 APR 1679, All Hallows, Bispham, Lancashire, England; and Ann, c 6 MAY 1686, All Hallows, Bispham, Lancashire, England.

Thomas Pearson, c 13 APR 1679, All Hallows, Bispham, Lancashire, England.  He married Mary Warbreck on 27 DEC 1708, All Hallows, Bispham, Lancashire, England.  In his children’s christening records he was listed as being from Whinney Ley Layton, Whinney Hey Yeat, and Little Layton.  They had: Ellen, c 21 NOV 1714, All Hallows, Bispham, Lancashire, England; Ann, c 29 JAN 1715, All Hallows, Bispham, Lancashire, England; and James, c 4 AUG 1717, All Hallows, Bispham, Lancashire, England.

Another Pearson family, but not known if related.

William Pearson married Agnes Wilkinson on 19 FEB 1704, St. Chad’s, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England.  Agnes was from Mains at the time of their marriage.  William was a shoemaker from Steyning.  They had: Sarah c 21 JUN 1707, St. Chad’s, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England; James c NOV 1709, St. Chad’s, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England; Johnc 10 JUN 1711, St. Chad’s, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England; Jennet c 30 DEC 1716, St. Chad’s, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England; William c 8 OCT 1718, St. Chad’s, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England; Isabell, c 13 NOV 1720, St. Chad’s, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England; and Mary c 20 JAN 1722, St. Chad’s, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England.

    Hello from Australia!

I cannot see any links to the people on your website, but, if I have it aright, my Pearson line comes from the Blackpool area at least as far back as a John Pearson who married a Jane Spencer in 1701.

I would be very happy to see if we can share information and ideas.

    Rgds, Ian Pearson

Hi, I’m also trying to work out my Pearson Ancesters. My 3x great Grandfather William Stanhope married Agnes Ann Pearson in 1868 at Holy Trinity, South Shore, Blackpool. Agnes Ann was daughter of Edmund Pearson b Abt 1819 to James Pearson and Ellen ( Salthouse) m 3rd Feb 1818 St Chad’s, Poulton. James Pearson’s father was Edmund. I’m trying to join the dots to go back further. It looks like all the Pearson families are connected (with the repetition of names).
